Creative Portfolio + Interview

Portfolio:

Rappers:  Portfolio can include recorded tracks, live show recordings or home recordings; students may submit any written poetry, spoken word work, or bars that they are currently working on.

Producers: Portfolio showcasing any beats, musical/creative productions, or other electronic work. Tracks can take the form of audio, video files, or links to Soundcloud, YouTube, websites, or other online content created by the applicant.

Interview

The interview consists of a conversation with Hip Hop & R&B faculty members. You will be asked to express your goals and aspirations, past experiences in music, why you want to study at Loyola, etc. Applicants have the option to interview virtually via Zoom or in-person during one of our on-campus interview events. See dates below. After submitting an application to Loyola, students will register for an interview date through their Loyola Application Status Page.

Professional Portfolio

Your portfolio may contain the following types of items. (Remember - you are applying to learn about the business behind the music, and that your portfolio should lean heavily on that rather than your creative content. We want to know about events you've produced, marketing you've done, ideas you have, and other creative projects that support you or others as artists.):

  • Materials/media (e.g., posters, programs, photos, press kit, etc.) from professional or creative projects in the music industry
  • Your creative/professional resume

  • Songs or videos you have written, recorded, engineered, produced, or played on;

  • Links to your public web presence - Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, LinkedIn, a Blog, a Podcast, etc.
